Cursor opened the beta for Origin, its code-hosting platform for teams running multiple coding agents.

Cursor Origin code hosting platform

What Origin Is

Cursor's code hosting platform. You sync your repos from GitHub and start using it. Hosting, Git, code review, and team collaboration in one place. Cursor built it around how AI agents work, not around human development workflows.

How It Differs from GitHub

The design intent is different.

Target scenario. GitHub optimizes for human PR workflows. Origin optimizes for multiple AI agents developing, committing, and creating PRs at the same time.

Performance tier. 22.6 commits per second per repo. 296K clones per hour. Global sync latency under 400ms. Numbers built for agent-scale parallel development.

Conflict resolution. Origin resolves merge conflicts automatically with AI. When multiple agents push to the same repo, conflict handling cannot wait for a human.

Where the Tech Comes From

Origin builds on the Graphite team, which Cursor acquired in 2025. Graphite specialized in stacked PRs, letting multiple related code changes move forward in parallel without blocking each other. That model fits agent development naturally: each agent works on a task branch, then the changes stack and merge automatically.

First integration partners are already live: Vercel, Buildkite, and Depot.

Where This Is Heading

Still beta. Not replacing GitHub in the short term. More of an extension within the Cursor ecosystem. Cursor started as an editor, and now it is building full infrastructure from code generation through merge and deploy. Origin covers the second half of that pipeline.
